3 neighbors set party for May 1
The Heights, Hillcrest and Prospect Terrace neighborhood associations are throwing a party May 1 at Prospect Terrace Park to showcase concepts for upgrading the city park.
The neighborhood associations have been working with the city and City Parks Conservancy, a nonprofit that raises money for Little Rock Parks and Recreation projects, in recent years on upgrades to the 3.46-acre park at “L” and Tyler streets.
The plans call for new picnic tables, benches and playground equipment, as well as new landscaping. Little Rock has allocated $130,000 for the improvements, which are to start this summer.
Residents are also hoping to raise more donations for additional improvements.
Residents have already helped the city pay for a handful of upgrades at the 33-year-old park — a new fence, slide and swings were added in the past two years, and the city improved irrigation on the field, paid for by donations from the neighborhoods and a city grant.
The May 1 event kicks off at 4 p.m. and goes until 5:30 p.m.
There is to be live music, food, face-painting, games and a bake sale. More information is available by e-mailing Becky Spohn at graceworth@comcast.net.
