Pulaski Heights Baptist Church Sets Hillcrest Farmers Market Opening Day, May 7
On Saturday, May 7, Pulaski Heights Baptist Church will celebrate the grand opening of the Hillcrest Farmers Market, a new community service project the church is sponsoring. The Hillcrest Farmers Market will be operate on Saturday mornings, 7 AM to Noon, beginning May 7 through September. The church is located at 2200 Kavanaugh Blvd, Little Rock.
The Hillcrest Farmers Market project addresses the church’s interest in creation care and a desire to encourage the community to make healthy food choices while also supporting local Arkansas growers.
The market will feature locally grown products only. Farmers register with the market and agree that they will sell only what they grow or produce. The market is expected to offer seasonal produce as well as some dairy and meat products, jams, jellies, bread and candy.
The market will feature a donation program to aid the hungry. Any produce donated at the end of the market by vendors will be picked up by the Union Rescue Mission and shared with area homeless/hunger projects.
The market will also feature a church hospitality tent where information about events and activities of the church will be available to all who come to the market. There will be an opportunity to preregister for Vacation Bible School June 5-9th and other news and information.
The PHBC Youth will have coffee, water and healthy drinks available and accept donations to their summer mission travel project to aid post-Katrina rebuilding in Louisiana in June.
Opening day special activities will feature fun for children and families, music and entertainment.
